Exactly. You can probably farm enough faction to unlock Razah for PvP in the time it would take you to form a DoA group. I'm certianly not a fan of the place, and I don't think that puts me in the minority on the issue.
As for content being "optional" or whatever other doublespeak you care to use, where do you draw the line between being optional and alienating people? Lets put it this way, Anet could make a new chapter where killing one boss in a very early area was technically beating the game. Beyond that, there would be an area with twenty Shiro's packed togeather. Beyond the Shiro's would be other "optional" content, which would compose 90% of the actual content of the game. Few, if any, would ever see this content. Clearly the above is a blatant exaggeration. But, simply put, how much content do you want to make that you're average players want but will never even see?

Razah is totally optional. Just like more expensive armour. Just like some expensive weapon skin.

WOW what remark... where shall I begin.
Razah is nether an upgrade or a Hero skin upgrade so don’t compare him to a perfect Gothic Sword, Magma shields in comparison to a KC vendors Katana or Lion Shield for 5k plus materials; Hero’s are not optional they are a fundamental aspect of the game, even more so than any single Elite skill or 15k armor. Hero’s are required for quests and are given away, unlike a special weapon skin, 15k, or FOW armor. Razah is a Hero just like Koss NO MORE NO LESS.
As a matter fact you get every Hero (except Razah) once you beat Nightfall giving more evidence that Hero’s are not comparable to expensive armor. Razah is the design flaw of Nightfall Hero’s no more no less. He is the quintessential exception to the rule of all other Nightfall Hero’s and should not be an exception to the rule. Usually exceptions in designs without an extremely good reason are called “flaws”.
What Armor does he replace, what weapon skin does he replace? How do you even compare him as a Hero to all other Hero’s what makes him more elite than any other Hero IN GAME that require the extreme requirements for getting him? What justifies this that makes his “flaw” the sole exception to all other Hero’s in this game?

And while im on the subject, henchmen should also be allowable for the elite area. I'd very much like to explore it, but I also very much dislike the pugs that tend to form in such areas.

6000 factions is nothing compared to what pve players have to do...
imho... if you can use him in pvp you should be able to add him to a pve group

Knowing that there is a hero out there waiting for me and there is a target i can achieve other than a meaningless title is a good thing!
I don't want to be handed something when i can earn it and appreciate the effort i put into getting it.

I'd be for removing the gem entry fee, that's just pure grind. But you should have to prove yourself on the quest in there.

Even more, actually.
Koss can be replaced by Goren, Razah can't be replaced by anyone.
If he could really change his profession like originally planned, and if we'd have another Ritualist Hero out there, then maybe these conditions would make sense.
But right now, it's like taking your only food source (Razah) and hanging it above a pool full of Sharks (DoA)

jeez people quit whining. I don't have razah yet, and I see it as an enventual goal for at least my main character to unlock him. If you need him for pvp, just get the balthazar faction. If not, then famr or something to buy the gems, or learn to do doa, which is what im gonna do sometime soon.
And I'd be willing to bet half the people who are whining in this thread won't even use him all that much in pve anyways

QFT! Giving Razah an Elite status above every other hero, while at the same time being unique is right on up there with the "Sword of 1000 truths" crap. Please don't turn our GW into another WoW.

I'm willing to bet that you would complain if you needed a ritualist hero for a build, but your only charater is an assassin (not the case with me).
Why are there so many people who, when someone sugests a change, start yelling at them to "stop whinning" on these forums?

As if people need Rit Hero, roll 2 SF Eles and MM you own almost anywhere in PvE. People dont NEED Rit hero, people WANT it, then earn it. Razah is pretty much like UW spider to me, just to show off that you have conquered DoA.

I'm surprised none of the 15 year old (or 15 year old mentalities), powerstruck moderators closed this topic for the sake of getting noticed. However, I bought my gemstones to get Razah (along his primeval armor), cause a majority of the time DOA has usually too few to not enough good players to get through the Mallyx quest. Plus 100k is only 100k, w/e.
Besides, I already have a cool ritualist character.

Razah is an ellite hero to get hence the trouble to get him, so just go get him it isnt a grind by any means and the gems are very easy to get just get into a group and play real simple, they are not going to drop off the gem's just get the gem's and go get him it is easy if you TRY.
